The Wheaton-Warrenville Education Association (WWEA) is a group of nearly 1,100 certified educators that serve the students of the Wheaton & Warrenville communities. In existence since 1972, we have a long tradition of excellence in our District due to the commitment, professionalism and service of our certified educational professionals. We are affiliated with the Illinois Education Association (IEA) and the National Education Association (NEA)
The WWEA listens, synthesizes information and responds to the needs of its members by negotiating quality contracts, mediating as needed, addressing educational issues at all levels and supporting and caring for the membership both professionally and personally, resulting in the improvement of education for staff and students.
Purposes of the WWEA
- To promote professional ethics, to encourage active participation and collaboration in the solution of school problems, and to foster a spirit of unity within the faculties.
- To initiate, support, and maintain those policies which best promote professional interests of the faculties and general welfare of the students.
- To cooperate with parent-teacher associations and other civic bodies having educational objectives, and to aid in interpreting to the public the problems, the functions, and the steady progress of the public schools.
- To aid in securing and maintaining competitive salaries, tenure, sound retirement systems, and such other improvements in conditions as will enable educators to function properly as vital factors in the educational process.
