Welcome to the Wheaton-Warrenville Education Association website!
Thank you for stopping by and visiting our website. We work diligently to provide our members and community with information, news and resources in public education. We are a union of nearly 1,100 licensed educators including Classroom Teachers, Psychologists, Social Workers, Nurses, Occupational & Physical Therapists, Counselors, Curriculum Leaders, Technology Coordinators, and more. Our Association was established in 1972 and since then we have worked diligently to “help teachers teach and students learn.” Every licensed educator in our school district is a member of our Association, so every teacher is a member of the union.
What is the WWEA about?
Like any other organization, we have a mission & purpose. While things seem to be changing rapidly in our profession, the mission and purpose continue to stay the same and are still relevant, important functions today. In short, we believe that our working conditions are our students’ learning conditions, and therefore work to improve these conditions side by side.
Additionally, we have 5 core values that we operate by: Mutual Responsibility, Honorable Profession, Collective Action, Equal Opportunity, and Community Service & Action. In upcoming posts I will go into more detail on what each of these mean, but they are also self-explanatory to a great degree.
Our website
In the meantime, please come back to the site often. Hopefully it will explain the current “reforms” that have been implemented from both Springfield and Washington. The resources on our page are targeted for educators, but are important for our community members and parents to be aware of as well.
If you have questions you’d like us to address, use the “Contact Us” link and send us a note. We’ll do our best to provide a response.
Thanks!
